Getting Started
Families can enroll their students in Sacramento City Unified School District online or in person at our Enrollment Center. For complete enrollment information, including application links, required documentation, and office hours, visit our dedicated enrollment website.
2025-2026 Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year. Students new to the district are automatically enrolled in their neighborhood school. Visit SchoolFinder to locate your family's neighborhood schools.
2026-2027 Enrollment
Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten
Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten begins January 13, 2026.
Age Requirements (per California Education Code):
- Transitional Kindergarten: Children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026
- Kindergarten: Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026

Open Enrollment (Grades K–8)
Sacramento City Unified offers in-district families the option to apply for a school or program for the following school year when space is available.
The 2026-2027 Open Enrollment application window will be open Monday, February 2, 2026 - Friday, February 27, 2026.

Transfers & Permits
Students who wish to attend a school outside their neighborhood attendance area or who live outside district boundaries may apply for transfers or permits. Please visit the Transfers & Permits page for specific options and application windows.
