September 2, 2021

Dear New Joseph Bonnheim Families,

As
one of the first schools to reopen in our district, we have been
together since August 9, using health and safety protocols to protect
one another. We know that although we have these strong measures in
place, COVID-19 remains in our community, especially a community as
small as our school and surrounding area. In fact, the area surrounding
our school has a high number of cases.

The
Sacramento City Unified School District, along with Sacramento County
Public Health, has identified a number of cases within New Joseph
Bonnheim. According to SCPH, it appears more likely that transmission is
occurring outside of the school campus. At this time, we have
identified 23 total cases at the school, which makes up 7.8% of our
total population of 293.

Due to this, SCPH has ordered that NJB school site students and staff
undergo mandatory testing tomorrow, Friday September 3, 2021.

Sacramento City Unified has a strong Health and Safety plan,
which includes access to testing at every school site. Because these
resources are accessible and available now, the district is able to
deploy a rapid response testing team to our school site tomorrow.

The district will offer 15-minute rapid antigen tests to all students and staff tomorrow to each classroom and staff member.

We do require parental consent for students under the age of 13. Staff and students must complete a registration form which can be found at the QR codes of link below.

Please note: students and staff who refuse to undergo this testing, as ordered by Sacramento County Public Health, will quarantine for 10 days or until a negative test result is produced.

Please view a copy of the letter here.

Thank you,

Sacramento City Unified School District
